Syllabus

CALM is the continuation of health is high school. In the course, we will cover everything from nutrition, physical education, personal choices, realtionships, sexual education, finance, drugs, life planning, and career planning. This class is every Monday and Friday at 12:30 in room 103A. This class is pass/fail, there is homework every class, if there are too many missing or incomplete assignments, you risk failing this course. You will have opportunities to redo missed assignments.

Monday March 4: Today we examined the benefits of exercise. Homework for Friday is to research one benefit of exercise.

Friday March 8: Today we examined the Canada Food Guide. For Homework, research 3 foods you eat and compare them with 3 aternatives (6 in total)

Monday March 11: Today we continued with food. Your homework is to research one vitamin, and one mineral, and write about why we need them, and where to get them.

March 15: Today we discussed the effects of Tobacco and Alcohol, and how they can be used legally and responsibly. Your homework was to research the effects of these substances.

March 18: Today we discussed Marijuana, how to be responsible, and the law surrounding it. We also discussed the effects of peer pressure, and how it can affect our actions. Your homework was to research some effects of Marijuana.

March 22: Today we discussed sleep and mindfulness. Your "homework" is to relax and be mindful during spring break. For those who skipped class, you will have to write about this.

Apr 8: Today we discussed mental health and self regulation. In particular, the five stages of grief. Your homework is to reflect about one time in your life when you experienced grief, and how you dealt with the situation at the time, and how you should have dealt with the situation.

Apr 12: Today we examined relationships. Homework is the reflect on positive and negative influences in your life.
